The caster is currently looking over the Ehrhardt master. The main hull has been filled with resin, and is ready for casting. At the moment, however, he's offered me two options.
The first is to do the model with a resin body/turret and resin accessories, sprued.
The second is to do the model with a resin body/turret, and pewter accessories.
He feels that the pewter might lend itself better to the detail parts, as well as being slightly sturdier, but he says that he could see it working either way. He's asked for my input, decision on the subject.
The bottom line is that the model would cost more to cast, and possibly more to sell, if it were cast in part resin/part pewter, as opposed to all resin. I have told him I'd like to see what the cost would be per casting, if it were a hybrid piece as opposed to the all resin option, and that's what I'm currently waiting on.
So, clearly, an interesting decision. Advantages and disadvantages to both.
If you have any opinions, etc. on the matter, I'd love to hear them.
