Romfell AC News Please!

Okay, so this may be putting the metaphorical cart before the horse so to speak (seeing, I mean, as the much anticipated E-V/4 Ehrhardt has yet to go into production), but is there any news on the forthcoming model of what must surely rank as the most debonair of all early ACs, id est the Romfell as mentioned on the Lead Adventure Forum?  Is there a working master we can perhaps take a sneaky peaky at biggrin? I imagine there must be a veritable legion of degenerates out there that shares my unhealthy anticipation regarding this mini?

Fair question.

I'm actually sort of pleasantly suprised at the interest in the Romfell. I have keenly awaited Austro-Hungarian vehicles myself for some time - and I'm pleased to see that the very act of doing it has got other interested parties speaking out! Just goes to show that not everybody wants yet another Tiger...

What I can tell you is that Tobi is going to be sculpting it, and that he is very keen to get started on that process. At the moment, I'm out of commissioning funds, however. I know Tobi's done some provisional work, but I'm hesitant to ask for sketches/mock ups, etc. until I'm able to send him a decent payment for getting started.

I will say that he's generally very quick to produce these things. The Ehrhardt, despite its complexity, was maybe a month in the offing from proposal to drawing board to mockup. Assuming that the sales of the Euskadi go well (I suspect they will), and given the demand for the Ehrhardt (which seems to be pretty damned high), you can expect the Romfell to release before too terribly long!

After that, I'm not sure what will be next. DaVinci's tank has been on the backburner for a while. I think Tobi is going to do the Krupp Kugelpanzer for his own range - so no need for us to repreat that here. I'd -really- like to get some Konigsberg guns done for East Africa WW1, but finding illustrations, plans, etc.. is a real pain (as Helen B. can attest). There have been a few requests for a Garford Armored Truck. Etc,etc.

Could be any of a variety of things.

I would definetely go for the Garford-Putilov.
Anyone gaming RCW would be keen to have it, since it was the only vehicle capable of knocking off tanks and armoured trains.

maybe with separate chassis for use on future trucks

I agree. Garford's an absolute beaut. It's on the list.

I think a Czar tank would be pretty damned cool, too, but i suspect it'd be hugely expensive and difficult to pull off. Maybe in 15mm?

Incidentally, the Romfell has officially been started. Tobi has some provisional shots of the hull up at the LAF. When I get some photos form him, I'll post them here.

The Garford-Putilov would make a superb model indeed!  I'm still rather excited over the Ehrhardt and Romfell, so the thought of a Garford as well is really too much!  I feel we WW1/interwar gamers are getting rather spoiled lately...

this is actually the kind of pictures I like to post when people get heated up in the obsolete scale discussion - I also have one of Hindenburg and his staff, who are all standing on a stairway on different steps, with their heads on the same level.

People do not have guard size, and miniatures do not need it either, as long as style and proportion fit together biggrin
